Helmut Hochwartner passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.
Words are not strong enough to express our regret. On behalf of myself and all the members of the Presidium, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Helmut Hochwartner.
The friendship and cooperation that united us in life will not end with his loss and we will continue our cooperation with deep emotion in our hearts.
Helmut Hochwartner was not only our valued friend and colleague, he was also a role model in many respects. And not only in professional terms. Rather, he will be remembered as a person who always strove for balance and had the big picture in mind. In both his professional and private life, he did not put himself at the center of attention, but was convincing through well-founded arguments and concentration on the essentials. That is why he was held in high esteem not only by friends and companions. Everyone respected his achievements for the whole casting sport in the world as well as the sovereignty and greatness with which he performed them.
In his decades of service as President of the Austrian Casting Association, as Vice President of the International Casting Sport Federation and as the greatest mentor of casting sports worldwide, Helmut Hochwartner played a decisive role in shaping them into great and influential organizations. His decisions have set the course for the importance of casting sports today. In all his functions and offices, Helmut Hochwartner has shown farsightedness and a sense of proportion and has strengthened the position of the sport of casting. His obliging nature has contributed significantly to the fact that the casting sport has become a valued interlocutor for various interest groups. In committees on all levels his word and his person were highly appreciated.
With Helmut Hochwartner, the casting sport has not only lost an experienced comrade-in-arms, but above all a fantastic man and an outstanding personality.
Helmut will be missed by me and all casting sportsmen and officials in the world. He has left a big gap that will be difficult to fill. You will remain unforgotten.

Die Worte sind nicht stark genug, um unser Bedauern auszudrücken. In meinem Namen und im Namen aller Präsidiumsmitglieder möchte ich der Familie und den Angehörigen von Helmut Hochwartner unser aufrichtiges Beileid aussprechen.
Die Freundschaft und Zusammenarbeit, die uns im Leben verbunden hat, wird mit seinem Verlust nicht enden und wir werden unsere Zusammenarbeit mit tiefer Ergriffenheit in unseren Herzen fortsetzen.
Helmut Hochwartner war nicht nur unser geschätzter Freund und Kollege, er war in vielerlei Hinsicht auch ein Vorbild. Und das nicht nur in fachlicher Hinsicht. Vielmehr bleibt er als ein Mensch in Erinnerung, der immer um Ausgleich bemüht war und das Große und Ganze im Blick hatte. Im beruflichen wie im privaten Leben stellte er sich nicht selbst in den Mittelpunkt, sondern überzeugte durch fundierte Argumente und die Konzentration auf das Wesentliche. Deshalb war er nicht nur bei Freunden und Weggefährten hochgeschätzt. Jedermann achtete seine Leistungen für den gesamten Castingsport in der Welt sowie die Souveränität und Größe, mit der er sie erbrachte.
In seine Jahrzehnte währenden Tätigkeiten als Präsident des Österreichischen Castingverband, als Vizepräsident der Internationalen Casting Sport Föderation und als der größte Mentor des Castingsports weltweit hat Helmut Hochwartner entscheidend dazu beigetragen, diese zu großen und einflussreichen Organisationen geformt. Seine Entscheidungen haben die Weichen für die heutige Bedeutung des Castingsport gestellt. In all seinen Funktionen und Ämtern hat Helmut Hochwartner Weitblick und Augenmaß bewiesen und die Stellung des Castingsports gestärkt. Sein verbindliches Wesen hat maßgeblich dazu beigetragen, dass der Castingsport ein geschätzter Gesprächspartner für verschiedene Interessensgruppen geworden ist. In Gremien auf allen Ebenen waren sein Wort und seine Person hochgeschätzt.
Mit Helmut Hochwartner hat der Castingsport nicht nur einen erfahrenen Mitstreiter, sondern vor allem einen fantastischen Mann und eine herausragende Persönlichkeit verloren.
Helmut wird mir und allen Castingsportlern und Funktionären in der Welt fehlen. Er hat eine große Lücke hinterlassen, die nur schwer zu schließen sein wird. Du wirst unvergessen bleiben.
