Important announcement of the ICSF Presidium

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Japanese government have postponed the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo by 1 year to 2021!

The ICSF Presidium is closely following the evolution of the situation caused by the new coronavirus, an epidemic that is developing day by day in an urgent and global context. It draws the attention of the organizers of the Castingsport- championships to give in with the utmost caution and in full knowledge of the advice of the official authorities of their respective countries on health issues, in order to ensure the protection of the athletes and officials – and if they consider it necessary: to modify the programme of the championships by postponing – in agreement with the organizing ICSF concerned – the event to a later date.

It is also possible that the World Youth Championships, the Flycasting World Championships with standard equipment and the World Championships in Casting Sport 2020 this year may also depend on this. Now it is not at all possible to foresee how things will continue this year.

As you know, the Swedish Casting Federation and the Nordic Casting Federations are not available to host the World Championships in 2020.

The ICSF is working on a solution to this problem, but now they can’t tell you anything more.

However, a solution could also fall victim to the general development of the pandemic and not become feasible. Should such a scenario arise, we will inform everyone in time, especially since your national World Cup qualifications will then also be affected.

We can only wait and hope.

The responsibility for the health of our members will always be the focus of all decisions.

I hope that you are sufficiently informed with this information for the time being.

If you have any questions, we are of course at your disposal.

ICSF Presidium
